A video of distribution of money to a woman voter on the last day of campaign for the first phase poll by Dhaneswar Sethy, BJD Zilla Parisad candidate in Derabish block has gone viral in social media. The candidate faced humiliation as some women voters opposed his clandestine act.
Sethy allegedly distributed money to the voter near the Palei panchayat building. His conduct has been criticised by locals and intellectuals.
When contacted, Sethy avoided the allegation stating that as some voters, who are related to him as granddaughters, demanded to provide money for purchasing cold drinks and tea; so, he paid only Rs 200 to them. He did not lure voters with money to cast their votes in his favour, he claimed.
