Tension gripped Tainda village under Nuagaon block in Sudargarh district after a BJD youth supporter was gunned down by three unidentified bike-borne miscreants on Thursday night.
The deceased Gulab Badai, all through the day, was involved in the BJD Jan Sampark Padayatra in the area being attended by party leaders Prafulla Mallik (Minister), Subash Singh, Anand Mohanty and Sarada Nayak.
According to sources, the incident took place at night when Gulab Badai was going to a shop near his house. The miscreants opened fire at him causing his death on the spot, the sources added.
Being informed about the incident, the Hatibadi police reached the spot on Driday morning and started investigation.
Though the reason behind the firing was yet to be ascertained, involvement of the outlawed PlFI organisation is suspected, a police official said. Badai had been imprisoned earlier due to his link with the Nuagaon petrol pump firing. After returning from jail, he had given up unlawful activities. That was why he was targeted by the miscreants, feel many.
