BJD councilor of ward 14 Baijyantimala lenka got elected as the chairperson of Pattamundai NAC. She defeated her rival from Congress Sarojini Rout in a margin of 14 votes. The chairman post for the NAC was reserved for woman candidate.
All the 19 councilors were present in the chairman vote. While12 councilors voted in favour of lenka, seven, including six from Congress voted in favour of Purnima lenka.
After winning, lenka stated that she would take all the necessary measures to carry out the developmental work in the Pattamundai NAC. “I would work for the people by taking all the councilors, including the opposition councilors, into confidence,” she said.
