Though the BJP is faring extremely well in the ZP elections in neighbouring Mayurbhanj district as per the results of the panchayat polls so far, it is yet to make a dent in Baleswar.
Significantly, the BJD has captured all the 18 ZP seats for which the polling was held in first two phases including Bhograi, Jaleswar, Basta and Baliapal.
In the meantime, Baleswar MP RK Jena who was absent in his constituency for more than one and an half month, began a marathon campaign from Thursday. Former Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and several other leaders were present in the meetings which were held in the Remuna area.
The polling would be held for Sadar and Bahanaga in the third phase of the polls on Friday.
