The BJD would raise the Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh, the Centre’s favour to Andhra Pradesh for construction of the Polavaram project and negligence towards Odisha in releasing social welfare funds in the Budget Session of the Parliament.
Besides, the Naveen Patnaik-headed party would also target the Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre on post-demonetisation effects.
“We will raise the Mahanadi issue in Parliament. The Centre’s formation of a Negotiation Committee on the issue is favouring the Chhattisgarh Government. We want the ongoing construction works in the Mahanadi upper catchment area be stopped immediately. Besides, the Polavaram issue will also be raised. No compromises on these issues will be accepted,” BJD’s Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi said after the BJD Parliamentary Party meeting at the Parliament premises on Tuesday.
