The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is all set to hold a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan here on Monday in protest against the “Central negligence” towards Odisha.

“As per our plan, we will stage a dharna before the Raj Bhavan followed by an awareness campaign and demonstrations at all district headquarters on April 23 and a 12-hour Odisha Bandh on April 26,” said party vice-president and Health Minister Damodar Rout.

"We have been neglected by the Centre in all sectors. The people of the State should know the Congress-led UPA Government’s attitude towards Odisha," Dr Rout added.

The party has also planned to collect signature of one crore people demanding Special Category status to the State and against Central negligence, besides passing resolutions supporting the Special Category State status in all the 6,236 gram panchayats, 314 panchayat samities and 30 Zilla Parishads, he said.
