BJD to hold demo before Parliament on January 8

The State’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) would stage a demonstration before the Parliament on January 8 over its demand of hiking the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy to Rs 2,930 per quintal for the farmers of the State.

Informing about it, Minister Pratap Jena on Thursday said that the party’s MPs and MLAs along with Biju Krushak Janata Dal members would leave for New Delhi by a special train on January 5 evening.

On January 8, after the demonstration, the party leaders would submit a memorandum relating to the demand to the President of India, Jena said.

Notably, the BJD has also been protesting the alleged negligence by the Centre in materialising the unanimous resolution passed by the State Assembly in connection with the demand of paddy MSP hike.
