All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and MP Susmita Dev on Thursday termed the BJD as ‘opportunist’ and a ‘B’ team of the BJP and alleged that the CBI investigation into the multi-crore chit fund and mining scams in Odisha has slowed down because of an “understanding” between Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dev made the allegation at a Press Conference here in the presence of PCC president Prasad Harichandan. She too alleged that no development has taken place in Odisha during Patnaik’s rule as his party BJD has no ideology.
“BJD is the B team of BJP. It has no ideology and is opportunist,” she said.
She further alleged that the Modi Government has not appointed a lokayukta till date as it apprehends that the CBI might not remain under its control. The Government uses CBI at its sweet wish, alleged Dev.
Hitting out at the Union Government over many issues, Dev said the Government, though completed two years, has failed to rein in inflation, check price rise, curb cross border terrorism and make schemes initiated by it reach people.
“The PM has too failed to bring back black money and keep its promise to create two crore jobs per year for youths of the country,” she alleged.
Dev took a dig at the Prime Minister over his frequent foreign trips saying he has to first decide if his residence is within the country or outside. She said Modi's foreign policy in general and Pakistan policy in general have suffered from serious defects.
Pakistan has been allowed a virtual clean chit on Pathankot by the foolish decision of allowing the ISI to come and investigate the dastardly attack on our air base, she pointed out.
Speaking on agriculture and drought issues, Deve said the BJP has failed to keep its promise to incorporate 50 per cent profit in the MSP (minimum support price) for farmers while, by now, it now stands at less than six per cent.
Data for ten drought-hit states show that a total of 1.52 crore people got employment under the MGNREGA in 2014-15. But in reality, only 2.80 lakh people, 1.8 per cent of recorded data, were employed for 150 days, she said.
