BJD sweeps J'pore; Independents hold key in Koraput, Kendrapada

For the third time in a row, the BJD swept the elections for the Jeypore Municipal Council.

The BJD got a majority of 25 seats out of the total number of 28.

The Congress won two seats while one went to an Independent candidate.

The formation of the 13-seat Kotapad Notified Area Council (NAC), another urban local body (UlB) in Koraput district, will depend on the role of the two Independent winners as the Congress bagged six seats, the BJD five.

In the district’s other UlB, the 21-ward Koraput NAC, an Independent winner will too hold the key to formation of the council as the BJD and the Congress won 10 seats each.
