BJD silent on Central negligence: Congress

Published on:

The Congress on Friday accused both the Union and State Governments for neglecting Odisha.

While the Modi Government has been denying the legitimate share of Odisha, the Naveen Patnaik Government has never raised voice about this, it said.

Newly-appointed PCC media cell chairman Ganeswar Behera said that since 2014-15, the Central Government has been gradually deducting the State’s share up to 37% from the Finance Commission’s recommendations.

The Centre even unevenly distributed cess and surcharge on petrol and diesel among the States and ignored the recommendations of the Finance Commission and Odisha bears the loss of mining royalty because of the Centre’s apathy, Behera said.

“It’s quite unfortunate that the BJD always chooses not to react to the Central negligence except sporadic lukewarm reaction. It clearly indicates that the BJD and the BJP have a secret understanding,” he alleged.
