The lok Sabha on Friday passed the controversial Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2014 to deal with the resettlement and rehabilitation of those displaced by the Polavaram Project amid severe opposition by MPs of the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) and Odisha’s BJD leading to uproarious scenes, forcing adjournment of the lok Sabha till 2 pm.
The Bill allows merging of some villages and mandals of Telangana with Seemandhra for execution of the Polavaram Multipurpose Irrigation Project.
MPs from the three States belonging to the BJD, Congress and TRS had held a meeting on Thursday at the Constitution Club to discuss the future course of action over the project.
About 100 villages of Odisha would also be affected by the project, the BJD MPs said.
