The Odisha High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the State Government asking it to file counter affidavits in response to a writ petition alleging Government inaction against a college teacher who had submitted a forged certificate to occupy the coveted position of Principal.
Abhay Mohanty, father of Rajya Sabha BJD member and film actor Anubhav Mohanty, had submitted a forged certificate obtained from the Berhampur University to get the post of Principal of the Kandarpur College here way back in 2008. While it is mandatory to obtain two refresher course certificates to be a Principal, Mohanty senior had managed to obtain one of them by forgery.
While this information was obtained through RTI by advocate Nishikanta Mishra, a subsequent Government inquiry confirmed Mohanty’s mala fide intention saying that his certificate was manufactured. But when neither the Higher Education Department nor the State Vigilance Directorate took any action against Mohanty, the advocate moved the High Court.
Justice SC Parija issued notices to the Higher Education Department Secretary and the Vigilance Director to file their counters within two weeks.
