The Commissionerate Police has arrested a relative of Bari BJD MlA Debasis Nayak on the charges of misbehaving with and assaulting a woman at Nayak’s official quarters here on November 3 after she complained about irregularities in the distribution of relief in Bari in Jajpur district.
The accused, Bishnu Charan Nayak alias Tuna (40), a resident of Binjharpur in the district, was arrested from his house in Jajpur. He was produced in the Court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate here on Friday, said police sources.
According to reports, Susanti Samal (35), a resident of Ratalanga in Bari had approached the MlA at his quarters to complain about irregularities in the distribution of flood relief. She, in her complaint to the police, had alleged that Debasis Nayak abused her while his associates Sheik Shafiueuddin and Tuna assaulted her. They, according to her, had also allegedly threatened her of dire consequences if she dared lodge a complaint with the police against them.
