BJD Members on Thursday demanded in the State Assembly that the Centre withdraw its proposal for the water aerodrome in Chilika soon.
“Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has made in the public that a water aerodrome would be constructed in the Chilika. If the aerodrome comes up and sea places operate, the biodiversity of the largest brackish water lake will be destroyed. It will hamper the livelihood of two lakh fishermen as 350 kinds of fish would be affected. The lake will lose its beatuty as 250 kinds of migratory birds will never visit the lake. Hence, the Centre should withdraw the proposal at the earliest,” demanded BJD Member Sanjay Dasburma during the Zero Hour.
