BJD misusing Government machinery, funds: BJP

The State BJP has taken strong exception to the engagement of Bharat Nirman workers for campaigning in favour of the ruling BJD ahead of the General Elections by the Naveen Patnaik Government.

BJP spokesperson Samir Mohanty said the engagement of a large number of Bharat Nirman workers for attracting the voters to the poll booths and propagating the people-friendly policies of the State Government through distribution of BJD kits as nothing but misuse of Government machinery and funds to garner vote for the ruling party.

All this is because of the phobia that has gripped the BJD and its chief Naveen Patnaik in view of a Narendra Modi wave sweeping in the State, Mohanty claimed. Mohanty said the BJD has already prepared a blueprint for poll campaigning by misusing Government machinery and funds. He said not only are the Bharat Nirman workers but several IAS officers and district Collectors also have been clearly instructed to adopt measures to favour the ruling party before and during the polls.

Terming this as unconstitutional, Mohanty said the State BJP has already drawn the attention of the Election Commission on the misuse of power by the ruling BJD and removal of those officers from the whole exercise, who are set to campaign for the ruling party with a secret agenda. At the same time, the BJP urged the Bharat Nirman workers not to cooperate with the BJD in the illegal manner of campaigning.
