BJD men kill BJP supporter family's woman in Jajpur

The Jenapur police of Jajpur district on Monday arrested a person for allegedly killing a woman member of a BJP supporters’ family after her brother-in-law (husband’s elder brother) attended a rally organised by the saffron party recently. The police also began a manhunt to nab the other four accused involved in the murder case. BJP State spokesperson Sajjan Sharma, who along with party women’s wing chief Simantini Jena visited the spot of the crime, alleged that ruling BJD supporters killed the woman.

The deceased was identified as Sulochana (35), wife of Surendra Dalei (40) of Panturi village under the Jenapur police limits. She was allegedly killed by the arrested person Siddheswar Dalei (65) and his four associates of the same village on January 9 evening. According to deceased’s nephew Alok Dalei, a group of people led by Siddheswar had an argument with his aunt at the village on last Friday evening when the villagers were busy celebrating a religious festival. After the altercation, the irate group thrashed Sulochana and then mounted the fatal attack on her, he said.

Alok alleged that the group attacked his aunt only because his father and uncle had attended the BJP rally. After registering a murder case, the police have started investigation into the incident. Police sources said the incident happened due to previous enmity between the group and the deceased’s family.
