The BJP on Tuesday dubbed the BJD Election Manifesto for 2014 polls as a document of false promises.
“The ruling party has simply befooled the people of the State by not mentioning about the fate of the promises made during the 2009 elections. BJD has utterly failed to implement the promises like provision of 35 per cent of irrigation in each block, devolution of power to Panchayati Raj institutions and giving a transparent and corruption free administration,” party spokesperson Samir Mohanty said at a Press conference here.
There is no mention about proper measures to contain corruption and to ensure a transparent administration and expansion of the irrigation facilities, devolution of power to Panchyati Raj bodies and implementation of PESA Act for socio-economic empowerment of the tribals, checking of pollution in the present BJD Manifesto, Mohanty observed. He further said the BJD has not given any definite assurance or guarantee on the setting up of permanent bench of the Odisha High Court in Western and Southern Odisha.
Instead of removing corruption, BJD government is involved in Rs 6 lakh crore mining scam, Rs 40,000 crore chit fund scam, Rs 6000 crore MNRGS scam besides the Dal scam, land scam and water scam, Mohanty alleged. He said there was no permanent and definite step to prevent the natural calamity like floods in the BJD manifesto.
Sajjan Sharma, another party spokesman, slammed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not learning Odiah and demanded that Odia must be made the official language for all practical purposes.
“It is unfortunate that Odisha which got its statehood status basing on its language, has a Chief Minister who does not know its language It is simply disgraceful to all the Odias,” he said.
