The BJD’s Mahanadi Suraksha Abhiyan was given a warm welcome at Haripur by leaders and workers of the party’s Nimapara unit on Wednesday.
Hundreds of activists moved on a bike rally from Haripur to Charichhak and stree corner meetings were held at Khelar, Dolabedichhak of Nimapara and Charichhak. Women in large numbers welcomed the rally at Dolabedichhak, where MlA Samir ranjan Dash presided over the meeting.
Among others, former Minister Surendranath Nayak, MP Prasanna Acharya, Minister Maheswar Mohanty, PradeepMaharathi, MP KulamaniSamal, MlA Umakanta Samantray Zilla Parishad President Jyotirmay Dalei, Nimapara leaders like Prasanna Mohanty, Jibanananda Mohapatra, Pradipta Khatoi, Sanatan Pradhan and others were present. They criticized Chhattisgarh Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for unilateral construction of barrages and dams upstream Mahanadi.
