The Baleswar BJD youth, student and woman wings on Wednesday lodged an FIR with the Sahadevkhunta police against a State BJP cyber unit official, Seetaram Gopapuria, for posting a disfigured picture of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the form of caricature on Facebook.
The aggrieved leaders besides condemning the posting on social networking site observed it was in bad taste, mischievous and intended to tarnish the image of an ideal Chief Minister of the country. They also alleged that the post was intended to malign the reputation of a dignified person with criminal intent.
The posting of image is defamatory in nature and invites action under penal provisions of the IPC along with other offences under the IT Act.
