The BJP on Tuesday welcomed the CBI’s move to arrest three politicians in connection with chit fund scam. In a Press release, party State spokesperson Samir Mohanty said the politicians would have been arrested before. Mayurbhanj BJD MP Ramchandra Hansda’s clarification about the cash (Rs28 lakh) seized by the CBI during raid on his house points figure towards Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he said.
Mohanty alleged that the State Government had ordered Crime Branch probe to help the BJD leaders escape. “The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had collected very important documents in the name of investigation and later it had destroyed to help the ruling party leaders,” he alleged.
He said the CBI should take action against the Crime Branch officials, who helped tainted political leaders during investigation.Mohanty “clarified” that the BJP has no relation with the party’s former MlA Hitesh Bagartti. “He had abstained himself from all party affairs before the general election,” said Mohanty, adding, “As he is not in the party, there is no need to take action against him.”
