Former Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai’s 76th birthday was celebrated on Monday at Kaliapani in Jajpur district. Though expelled from the ruling party, Ghadai said, “I am still in the BJD and doing party work. But the BJD left me.”

He praised the Naveen Patnaik Government for its “commitment” for betterment of women and also highlighted the various steps undertaken by the Government for development of poor tribals.

“Sukinda (which Ghadai represented several years in the State Assembly) is where my heart is. I will continue to do whatever possible on my part for the people of this area till by last breath,” he said emotionally.

A book on Ghadai’s works titled Biswakarma was released and 2,000  blankets were distributed to tribals on the occasion.

Sukinda Pujya Puja Sansad secretary Udhaba Behera said Biju Patnaik loved Ghadai for his pro-people activities. “We hope Naveen Patnaik will soon revoke the expulsion order (against Ghadai),” he said.
