BJD Jharsuguda district vice-president Sambhu Mohanty was arrested on Tuesday night for misbehaving with on-duty police officials
Briefing mediapersons on Wednesday, Jharsuguda SP Ashwini Kumar Mohanty said, “The Belpahar police launched a traffic awareness drive at Belpahar on Monday. At around 8.30 pm ASI of Belpahar police station Arjun Oram, and a Constable intercepted Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Mohanty’s car and asked the MLA to put on his seat belt,”
“Sambhu, a supporter of MLA, came after the MLA left the spot and started abusing police personnel in filthy language,” he added.
A video of Sambhu abusing the police personnel also went viral on social media.
Later, Belpahar police registered a case against Sambhu under section 353 and 294 in this connection. Subsequently, the BJD leader was arrested, Jharsuguda SP said.
