BJD-JMM poll pact flops

Published on:

The much-touted electoral understanding between the ruling BJD and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in two districts has fallen through due to differences over seat-sharing. BJD vice-president Kalpataru Das announced this on Saturday.

With the seat adjustment move between the two parties shelved, the BJD would now contest all the 147 Assembly seats, Das said. The JMM had asked for six Assembly seats, which was not acceptable to the BJD, sources said. In a related development, JMM Odisha unit president Sudam Marandi joined the BJD in the presence of BJD president Naveen Patnaik.
