The ruling BJD launched its Jan Sampark Padayatra on Gandhi Jayanti on Friday to sensitise the people about its various developmental initiatives in the State.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the State-level padayatra here while party leaders led the campaign in the districts. The march would continue till Jayaprakash Narayan's birthday on October 11.
"We will try our best to fulfil promises made in the manifestos during the general elections," said the Chief Minister.
Patnaik too attacked the Union Government for stopping the flow of funds for certain Central schemes currently being undertaken in the State. He said his Government would continue the schemes with the State's own funds.
Patnaik asked the party cadres to go to the people and inform them about the State Government's schemes and achievements. Among others, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda, MP Prasanna Patsani, the three Bhubaneswar MlAs and BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena were present.
