The BJD’s farmer rallies at block offices against the NDA Government’s apathy to increase paddy MSP to Rs 2,930 per quintal entered the fourth day on Thursday.
“The BJP had promised in its election manifesto to fix paddy MSP at a price that would be calculated with cost of production plus 50 per cent profit of the cost. On that basis, the State Assembly passed a unanimous resolution to recommend the Center to fix MSP at Rs 2,930. But it is disappointing that the Prime Minister didn’t give time to the House Committee to present the memorandum. The BJD would continue to fight for the rights of the farmers,” said BJD Krushak Samukhya coordinator Sushant Singh at a rally held at Bijepur block office.
Minister Badrinarayan Patra, MPs Jinna Kikaka and Balabhadra Majhi, many MlAs and former MPs and MlAs participated in rallies held at various blocks across the State, informed party’s State secretary Bijay Nayak.
