Taking a cue from West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress (TMC), Odisha ruling BJD on Thursday took to the streets against the raids conducted by the CBI on the houses of a party MP and an MlA for their alleged complicity with the Seashore chit fund company.
A large number of BJD youth and student wings activists staged a demonstration in front of the CBI office here and even clashed with police while trying to storm into the Central investigating agency office.
Alleging that BJD leaders are being targeted by the CBI, the protestors questioned the timing of the CBI move.
Asking why the CBI was silent for last two years, the protestors said the CBI raided the houses of their party leaders with an ill intention as the panchayat elections are fast approaching.
The protestors also burnt an effigy of BJP leader and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, accusing him of hatching the conspiracy against the BJD.
