BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Sunday constituted a Krushi O Krushak Committee of the party under the chairmanship of senior MlA and former Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy.
The other eight member of the committee are Dr Nrusingha Sahu, Debaraj Mohanrty, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Manohar Randhari, Pushpendra Singh Deo, Sushant Singh, Bhagirathi Sethi and Bijay Naik, all MlAs.
This committee will take steps to popularise the initiatives taken by the BJD Government for agriculture development and farmers’ welfare among farmers so that they can avail them effectively.
This committee will organise training programmes by way of meetings and workshops for party cadres and leaders at the gram panchayat and block levels on agriculture budget, agriculture policy and initiatives in the irrigation sector. It will also popularise the initiatives taken in the fisheries and animal husbandry sector. The committee will conduct meetings throughout the State in the next two months involving local leaders and farmers’ groups.
