Senior Congress leader Kishore Chandra Patel on Friday said the BJD Government has failed to fulfill its promises made to the electorates in its election manifesto in 2009 polls.
“At the time of election, the BJD in its election manifesto had promised free power supply to farmers, regulation of dishonest business men dealing with natural resources, employment to 10 lakh youths, making public the property list of the ruling MlAs and Ministers, establishing Kalinga Regiment and Kalinga Bank in the State. But the promises are yet to be fulfilled,” said Patel.
He further stated that as per the Economic Survey report, 2011-12, the poverty in the State was reduced from 39 per cent to 29 per cent and in 2012-13, it was reduced from 57.2 per cent to 37 per cent, which made Odisha a number one State in the country in poverty. But the State Government claimed that the poverty rate was reduced by 20 per cent from 2004-05 to 2009-10. Which statistics is true, he asked.
According to the State Government, the Central Government is providing 35 kg of rice to each of the 32.98 lakh BPl families in the State. But at the same time, the State Government has admitted that number of BPl
families in Odisha is less than 32.98 lakh.
So where is the need to reduce the monthly rice quota of each BPl family by 10 kg, he asked further, adding that the State Government has been misleading the people of the State by its confusing statistics.
