The BJD on Friday termed the egg attack on Union Minister Jual Oram as a spontaneous reaction of the people and slammed the Minister for writing to Home Minister Rajnath Singh regarding the attack.
“Police had taken local Congress and BJD leaders into detention a day before the Union Minister’s visit to Rajkanika. BJD, Congress and BJP workers were present at the incident site at Ali. Hence, no party can be blamed for the egg attack on the Minister. Rather, it can be said that general people reacted spontaneously as the Union Government has failed to keep its promises and the BJP is talking lies only,” said BJD spokesperson Pratap Keshari Deb.
He refuted Oram’s charge that he monitored the attack on him stating that he was abroad on the day.
Similarly, Deb questioned the justification of Oram placing urging Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for a probe into the egg attack on him.
“Oram had gone to attend the BJP’s Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash meeting and to welcome former MlA Dolagobinda Nayak to his party. It was not a Government programme at all. Hence, there is no justification behind Oram writing to the Union Home Minister about the incident,” Deb pointed out.
He too opposed the Sundargarh Bandh observed by the BJP on the day.
