In reaction to Chief Naveen Patnaik’s allegation that the BJP Governments at the Centre and at Chhattisgarh are acting against Odisha’s interest vis-à-vis Mahanadi water, BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty on Sunday said the BJD, in reality, has no concern for the Mahanadi but worried over the BJP’s growing popularity.
“Mahanadi and all other rivers in the State have dried up and this situation has arisen only because of inability of the Naveen Patnaik Government. The Chief Minister is raising the Mahanadi issue only to cover up his inabilities,” he said.
He said the Chief Minister’s call to his party workers to protect Mahanadi is nothing but cheap politics.
“While the Union Government has already constituted a tribunal and the Mahanadi dispute is subjudice, the Chief Minister’s advice to party workers is very disappointing,” he said.
