'BJD conspires to hijack Food Security scheme'

Published on:

The State BJP on Tuesday alleged that the BJD Government has made a conspiracy to hijack benefits to be given by the Union Government under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) as its own.

“The Central Government will provide about 16.23 lakh quintals of rice and other food grains to the State each month under the NFSA and about 3.25 crore people will be benefitted. While the State Government is entrusted with beneficiary selection and ration card preparation works, it has astonishingly started distributing posters and leaflets with photos of Naveen Babu along with local leaders and concerned Minister in an intention to hijack the scheme,” alleged party spokespersons Sajjan Sharma and Sameer Mohanty in a statement.

They informed that the State would get over 16.23 lakh rice and other food grains per month under the Food Security Scheme apart from Antodaya rice at 35 kg per family. “If these benefits are considered, the State will get Central assistance of over Rs4,000 crore per annum,” they pointed out.

They demanded that the State Government should mention name and logo of the Central Government in the leaflets and posters being distributed for creating awareness about the pro-people scheme.
