The BJD on Thursday complained to the State Election Commission (SEC) that the Union Government violated the model code of conduct enforced for panchayat elections by publishing advertisements on programmes like Ujjwala and Swachh Bharat in Odia TV channels on Thursday.
“Advertisements on programmes like UJAlA and Swachh Bharat in local Odia TV channels appear to be in violation of model of code of conduct enforceable in the State for panchayat polls since December 27. Kindly stop all such advertisements forthwith and take appropriate action against such violators as per law,” urged party vice-president Surjya Naraya Patro in a memorandum submitted to the SEC.
Patro along with MlAs Bijaya Kumar Mohanty and Priyadarshi Mishra handed over the memorandum.
