BJD brings censure notice against C'garh Chief Minister

BJD MPs on Friday brought a censure notice in the lok Sabha against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for giving a statement against Odisha’s interest vis-à-vis Mahanadi water and thereby allegedly breaking principles of neighbourhood.

During Zero Hour, BJD Parliamentary leader Bhartruhari Mahtab said Singh’s vociferous statement that construction of barrages would not be stopped and Chhattisgarh has all rights over the Mahanadi does not suit to his post. “When the matter is disputed now, Singh should not have told this as a Chief Minister of the neighbouring State. We condemn this and demand that the House pass a censure motion against him,” said Mahtab.

He too demanded that Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti make reply on the Mahanadi issue in the House so that facts regarding Mahanadi water dispute between Chhattisgarh and Odisha would be known.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan directed the Minister to make a statement on the issue in the House, sources said.
