The workers of the BJD and the BJP had a faceoff at the Southern Range IG office here while they moved there to place memorandums against each other on different issues on Tuesday.
While workers belonging to the saffron party were staging a dharna in front of the SP office demanding arrest of BJD workers indulged in violence activities during Monday’s hartal, ruling party leaders workers, including two MlAs and the BMC Mayor, were there to hand over a memorandum to the IG demanding arrest of killers of the Chhatrpur BJD Councillor.
When BJD leaders and workers were coming out of the IG office, BJP leaders shouted anti-State Government slogans. Seeing this, BJD leaders too shouted slogans against the BJP. As they indulged in exchange of heated words, tension prevailed there at least for half-an-hour and the police had a tough time to control them. As situation worsened, police had to keep workers of both the parties under detention for some time.
