Some noted persons have alleged that commercial and political advertisements put on walls and hoardings affected the spiritual atmosphere severely during Gundicha Yatra held in Puri on Saturday.
Big hoardings of Airtel and Idea companies and BJD’s advertisement found in front of the Singhdwara and backside of the Nadighosh, chariot of lord Jagannath, spoiled the decorum of the holy Yatra, they said.
They questioned the temple administration’s claim of making the Grand Road colourful when such advertisements were there.
Among many, famous photographer Raghu Ray and painter Jatin Das have felt unhappiness over this and urged the temple administration not to put any such hoarding during coming festival days.
