The State Government was put into a fresh embarrassment vis-à-vis the multi-crore chit fund scam as the Opposition Congress vehemently alleged in the State Assembly on Tuesday that two accused of the AT Group ponzi firm had deposited a whopping amount of Rs8 crore in the BJD account at the SBI Main Branch here.

leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra (Congress) made this startling charge when the House reassembled after an adjournment. He read out an account number, 10091755246, and said it was credited with Rs 8 crore in a single day by two accused involved in the AT Group.

“Doesn’t this account belong to the ruling BJDIJ Wasn’t the whopping amount of Rs8 crore transferred from accounts of Purna Chandra Padhi and his son Krushna Chandra Padhi, who are accused in the chit fund scamIJ The Chief Minister should clarify this,” Mishra said and demanded that the CM make statement on the operation of his party’s account.

Mishra too reiterated that the Government is knowingly delaying the chit fund probe as many of ruling party leaders are involved in the scam.

Earlier, the Assembly had been adjourned at 10.30 am till 3 pm as Opposition Congress and BJP members kept demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Daburma and chit fund probe head Justice Madan Mohan Das.

While they demanded resignation of the CM for his inaction against party leaders involved in the chit fund scam, they reiterated resignation  of Dabsburma for taking Pajero SUVs from the AT Group and ouster of Justice Das for making statements against interests of chit fund investors at a meeting hosted by the ruling party in Cuttack recently.

The opposition members rushed into the Well of the House and shouted slogans in support of their demands. BJP members had also worn jackets with mentions regarding the demands.
