Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and opposition Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) have announced their candidates for the poll to the Deputy Mayor post for Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) to be held on Saturday.
The BJD announced E Vivek Reddy as its candidate while D Karunakar was nominated by the BJP.
While Reddy has been elected as the Corporator of Ward-42, Karunakar is the Corporator from Ward-21.
Notably, the BJD has grabbed the BeMC Mayor post with the victory of its candidate Sanghamitra Dalei, who defeated her rival candidate from the BJP Sabita Suar with a margin of 20,236 votes.
