A young driver of a car, which was en route to Khamar under the Chhendipada police station in Angul district, died when the vehicle plunged about 40 feet off a bridge at Kunjam under Pallahara block on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Jayanta Pradhan, a businessman of Parabil village in the district.
According to reports, Jayanta was travelling towards Khamar from Injidi when he lost control over the vehicle, as a result of which it fell off the bridge.
Even though the land under the bridge was submerged with three-feet water, he died on the spot.
Some passersby spotted the car with its lights on and called up police. The Khamar police reached the spot and began a probe into the incident.
