State Planning Board Deputy Chairman and Jagatsinghpur district BJD president Bishnu Das, who is adversary of Paradip MLA Damodar Rout in the district politics, visited Paradip for two days on Thursday and Friday and reviewed the local party affairs.

On Thursday, Das was greeted by thousands of party supporters on his way to Paradip at Rahama, Kujang, Zero Point, Atharabanki and, finally, at Paradip. Noted trade union leader Santosh Kumar Pattanaik welcomed him at Kujang and accompanied him to Paradip.

At the entrance of Paradip near Do Chhaki, the leaders garlanded the statute of Utkalgaurav Madhusudan Das at Atharabanki and the Biju Patnaik Babu statue at the Badapadia Bus-Stand besides garlanding the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Then, Das visited the Viswhakarma Puja Mandaps at Paradip including the one of the Jagatsinghpur District Truck Owners’ Association. In night, he made halt at the Jawahar Guesthouse of Paradip Port Trust.

On Friday morning, Das met BJD workers. Local BJD leaders and elected BJD representatives discussed with him about the party affairs and the situation after the expulsion of Damodar Rout from the party.

This was the first visit of Das after Rout was removed from the party. He expects the party ticket to contest from the Paradip Assembly constituency and is confident of winning the seat.
