A statue of former MLA Bishnu Das was unveiled at Raghunathpur by Block Development Officer Jitendra Kumar Nayak in presence of a Magistrate and police force amid stiff protest by Congress supporters and Navnirman Krushak Sangathan [NNKS] activists. Following the hasty inauguration, the NNKS activists held a procession at Raghunathpur Bazar protesting the statue installation next to the idol of Pandit Gopabandhu Das on the same spot. They also launched an indefinite stir at the spot. Meanwhile, the Congress supporters led by Himansu Mallick lodged an FIR in Raghunathpur police station against BDO Nayak and block JE Amiya Kumar Mallick for installing the statue by ignoring the wish of the people. The party also charged the administration of cheating the protestors and not keeping its words. Raghunathpur police admitted that a complaint had been received from Congress leader Mallick and assured to take lawful action.
