Former Jagatsinghpur MlA Bishnu Das on Saturday last lodged a complaint at the SDJM Court here against MlA Chiranjib Biswal alleging that the latter had given false information in his affidavit during filing of nomination papers in the Assembly polls early this year.

Das, who lost the elections to Biswal, invoked Section 125 A of the Representation of the People Act -1951 (RPA) to lodge the case. Das revealed that during filing of nomination papers Biswal had suppressed facts on his landed property and the lawful earning sources of his spouse. Citing the incongruity of Biswal’s property and income with the information furnished, Das revealed that Biswal owns land and property in his native Tulanga village under Tirtol what he had skipped.

Moreover, Das said Biswal has a plot of about 8.8 decimal in laxmisagar area in Bhubaneswar, but he did not mention about it in his affidavit.

Das also expressed doubt over the lawful earning of Biswal he had mentioned. The former MlA said that Biswal was former managing director and director of few companies such as Karuna Infra Tech, Karuna AAG Pvt ltd and Ashribad Publications and had ignored furnishing details about his lawful earning and financial benefits from these companies. Das also objected to the veracity of information given by Biswal about his wife’s earning.

Earlier Das had lodged a complaint before Election Commission of India [ECI] seeking to verify the correctness of the Biswal’s election affidavit in July last. Acting on the complaint, the ECI had directed the Returning Officer to submit a report.
