BJD Rajya Sabha member Bishnu Das was on Saturday assigned with two important positions by party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Das was appointed as Vice-Chairman of the State Planning Board, which is headed by the Chief Minister. Besides, the eminent Scheduled Caste leader was also made the convenor of the BJD SC Cell.
Das’ appointments have dealt a blow to the image of his bête noir in the Jagatsinghpur district BJD politics and Minister Damodar Rout. Das is also the BJD district president. It was under Das’ leadership that the BJD had an impressive victory in the recent panchayat elections in Jagatsinghpur district.
