: The 105th birth centenary of freedom fighter and former Chief Minister Biren Mitra was held here. A statue of the late leader at Cuttack Mission Road was garlanded by officials from the District Information and Public Relations Department and by organisers from the Biren Mitra Foundation.
President of the meeting and Cuttack district Collector Dr Bhabani Sankar Chaini, MP Bhartruhari Mahatab, Mayor Subash Singh, Barbati MLA Mohammed Mouqim, former MLA Debashish Samantray, former MLA Prabhat Kumar Tripathy, Biren Mitra Foundation president Soumit Mitra, vice president Aditya Narayan Swain, Corporators and many important personalities of the district were present.
President of Cuttack Shanti Committee Debendra Sahoo, general secretary Bhikari Charan Das, BJP Cuttack city president Lalatendu Badu, cine star Sritam Das and many present and past corporators offered their heart-felt tributes to the great leader. Earlier, a procession comprising over 100 youths under the leadership of Debashis Rout and Amit Mitra was taken out in the city chanting the slogan “Biren Mitra, Amar Rahe”.
