The speakers at an event here on Thursday recalled the courageous deeds and bold decisions Biju Patnaik took during his lifetime when he was leading the State.
Speaking at a meeting and photo exhibition for observance of the Biju centenary year as well as 80 years of Odisha’s formation held at the Durgapur mini stadium at Soro, the speakers said woman empowerment as well as Panchayati Raj institutions strengthening process began with Biju babu’s initiative.
They also stated about his efforts to make Odisha vibrant and prosperous and urged the young generation to follow in his footsteps. At an exhibition held on the occasion, several important and rare photographs associated with the former Chief Minister as well as photos of Odisha’s past glory were displayed.
The event was jointly organised by the Culture and Public Relations Departments and NYK. While former Minister Panchanan Kanungo attended as chief guest, former Soro MlA Surendra Parmanik and former bureaucrat Benudhar Mishra were the other guests. On the occasion, a football match and cultural show were held.
