A statue of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik was unveiled at Erakana near Sukhuapada under Cuttack district’s Mahanga police station on the death anniversary of the leader on Sunday.
Women and Child Development Minister Usha Devi opened it in the presence of local MlA Pratap Jena, Rajya Sabha member Anubhab Mohanty, former Assembly Speaker Sarat Kar, former MlA Bikram Kesari Burma, Nischitakoili block Chairman Girish Chandra Mohapatra, Mahanga block Chairman Bhikari Charan Swain, Zill Parisad Member Narmada Nayak, Mahanga BJD president R Jena.
Remembering Bijubabu, the Minister said, “He always gave priority to women, and only for him I entered in politics.”
MlA Jena highlighted about his relationship with the former Chief Minister and demanded Bharat Ratna for him. A total of 100 students received ‘Biju Samman Award’ in different categories on the occasion.
