The Biju Sishu Suraksha Yojana, announced earlier for education, healthcare and protection of orphans and HIV affected children, was launched here on Thursday.
launching the scheme at a public event, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the State Government would bear the educational expense of these children and provide them scholarship for higher education, among other benefits.
Besides, the girl beneficiaries would be given Sukanya accounts, and the Government would provide assistance at the time of their marriage.
Patnaik too announced the functioning of the ‘Odisha multi-sectoral action plan’ aimed at fortifying the nutritional needs of mothers and children of the State.
This action plan would be jointly executed by the State Government and the Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI). It would be launched in 2017 and implemented for four years till 2020.
