District BJD leaders celebrated the 103rd birthday of former Chief Minister and legendary leader Biju Patnaik amid much enthusiasm here on Wednesday.
State Planning Board Deputy Chairman and BJD district president Bishnu Charan Das presided over the function. Biju Yuva Janata Dal president Amarendra Das said Bijubabu was not just a political leader but a statesman by all consideration. He was committed to the wellbeing of the nation, albeit Odisha and Odias were his first love. He also recounted the event when Bijubabu had relinquished the entire gift worth thousands of crores of rupees offered to him by the Government of Indonesia following he rescued the then Indonesia President.
Among others, lawyer Rajkishore Khatua, BJD Mahila State secretary Minati Das, BCJD president Pradipta Bhuyan, Zilla Parishad Member Kiranabala Sasmal, Biridi Zilla Parishad Member Lata Das, former Biridi block Chairman Rabinarayan Jena, Jagatsinghpur Municipal BJD president Dollagovinda Das, district vice-president Dipti Das, Jagatsinghpur block Vice-Chairman Prasanna Mohanty and block president Manoj Bhoi were present.
