The State Government has decided to resume enrolment of farmers under the Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana (BKKY), which was stopped due to the general elections in April.
A decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Secretary GC Pati on Wednesday. All the 30 districts of three zones have been included in its fold. Officials said the total coverage BKKY so far has been 51,68,434 against the current year’s target of 60 lakh, thereby recording an achievement of more than 86 per cent. This includes 23,10,649 families enrolled under Stream-I and 28,57,785 families enrolled under Stream-II. Up to five members of each enrolled family in both these categories are provided health insurance up to I lakh per family per year, said Agriculture Secretary Rajesh Kumar Verma. “The enrolment, which was stopped with declaration of the election code of conduct, would now begin,” he said.
