The 107th birth anniversary of founder of Paradip Port and creator of modern Odisha Biju Patnaik was celebrated in a grand ceremony here on Sunday. Ramadhun was sung; prayers were offered at temple and lamps were lit. Fruits were distributed to patients in hospitals.
Biju lovers came in a bicycle procession from Paradip Badpadia and garlanded the statue of Biju Patnaik at Atharbanki.
Later, Paradip MLA Sambit Routray attended a Biju memorial meeting organised under the chairmanship of Paradip Municipality Chairman and BJD Paradip City president Basant Kumar Biswal. Former MP Prabhat Samantaray, eminent labour leader and BJD State secretary Santosh Kumar Patnaik, social activist Antaryami Patnaik, labour leader Anant Kumar Das, senior BJD leader Magu Charan Nayak and Sumant Kumar Biswal were present as guests of honour.
The guests spoke about Biju Patnaik's patriotism, courage and contributions in building modern Odisha.
