Senior BJP leader and party national executive member Bijay Mohapatra was formally given an important role to devise the party’s strategies on popular issues happening in the State.

After a long discussion at a high-level meeting, the State executive committee led by president KV Singh Deo chose Mohapatra as convener of a Programme, Planning and Implementation Committee (PPIC) to strengthen the party by connecting it to the mass.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi was made co-convener of the committee, while 12 other party leaders were appointed as members of the powerful panel. This was announced by the party’s Odisha-in-charge Arun Singh and BJP legislature Party leader Basant Panda at a Press meet here Sunday.

Singh said the committee would pick up important issues, including the State Government’s anti-people programmes, and make plans and programmes to take up the issue at the State level.

“Through this committee, we will give a strong voice to the popular agitations and issues at the grassroots level,” said Singh and added that party members would go to people to make them aware about the Modi Government’s successful stories.

Besides, five other committees, including a Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao committee to work on issues relating to security and development of women in the State and a Committee for Training of Party Members to guide party activists, have been formed.
